The ice breakers of the Gulf of Bothnia are busy all winter carving the frozen ocean for the many cargo ships to ferry there goods to ports further south.
Whilst exploring the streets of Helsinki, we happened to chance upon the Hietaniemi Cemetery, and went for a bit of a stroll through it. This was one of the many hundreds of Iron Crosses, that headed the graves.
We stopped off at the Arctic Circle coffee shop, and I went for a walk in the snow and spotted this shack on the other side of the highway. I made my way through the snow to get a little closer, and captured this shot.
Whilst walking the street’s of Helsinki early one morning, I came across this set of chairs and tables that were all lined up, and ready for the morning trade. I love pattern’s and couldn’t resist taking this shot.
Details and information on our train journey in 2007, that took us from the arctic circle in Finland all the way to China. The Trans Siberian is the mother of all train trips, and was something that we had wanted to do for many years. We also stopped at various places along the way.
